This pathway is for students who have decided on a trade, technical route or agricultural route and now need to choose the specific occupation and the specific provider.
The biggest risks here are financial: paying for training that leads to a certificate nobody recognises, or committing years to an arrangement that teaches you little. Both are avoidable with a few direct questions.
You will also start building the record that gets you hired or accepted: logged hours, safe practice, photographs of finished work, and a trainer who will vouch for you.
Learning Outcomes
- Choose a trade or technical occupation based on demand where you plan to work.
- Judge a training provider on what it is recognised to award, its cost and its completion record.
- Cost out training, tools, transport and lost earnings before committing.
- Keep a logged record of supervised hours, tasks, safety steps and feedback.
- Explain what qualification you will hold at the end and who recognises it.
