Safety & Trust
eStudent 360 keeps students safe through three layers of protection: a rigorous "Know Your Mentor" verification process, AI-assisted content moderation, and human oversight by our safety team. Guardian controls and a clear reporting process sit alongside these layers.
How We Protect Students
Every interaction on eStudent 360 is protected by three pillars working together:
- Know Your Mentor (verification): Every mentor is verified before they can connect with students, with verification tiers from PENDING through LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH trust.
- Manual moderation (human review): A dedicated safety team reviews flagged activity, responds to reports, and oversees the platform.
- AI-assisted moderation: Automated systems screen content and behaviour in real time so risks are caught quickly.
Know Your Mentor
Mentors complete a structured verification process before they are allowed to mentor:
1. Identity verification — We confirm each mentor is who they say they are. 2. Background check — Mentors are screened before being approved to work with students. 3. Credential review — We review the qualifications and experience mentors claim. 4. Ongoing monitoring — Verification is not one-and-done; mentor accounts are monitored on an ongoing basis.
Mentor profiles carry a verification tier (PENDING, LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH) so students and guardians can see the level of assurance behind each mentor.
AI-Assisted Moderation
Automated moderation supports our human team by screening content and behaviour as it happens:
- Content filtering — Inappropriate or harmful content is detected and screened.
- Evasion detection — Attempts to bypass safety controls (for example, sharing off-platform contact details) are detected.
- Pattern analysis — Behavioural patterns that may indicate risk are surfaced for review.
- Self-harm detection — Signals of distress or self-harm are flagged so the team can respond with care.
AI moderation receives usage and content signals to keep students safe; it supports, rather than replaces, human judgement.
Manual Moderation
Human oversight backs up the automated systems:
- Human review — Trained reviewers assess flagged activity.
- Safety team — A dedicated team is responsible for student safety.
- Instant alerts — High-risk signals trigger immediate alerts.
- Appeals process — Users can appeal moderation decisions through a clear process.
Guardian Controls
Guardians stay informed and in control of their child's experience. Guardians can review their consent, monitor mentorship activity, and withdraw consent at any time, which pauses or ends the student's participation. Guardian consent is required before a minor's account is fully activated.
Reporting & Response
If something does not feel right, anyone can report a concern. Our process is:
1. Report — Submit a concern about a mentor or interaction through the platform. 2. Review — The safety team reviews the report promptly. 3. Response — We take appropriate action, which may include warnings, suspension, removal, or reporting to authorities where the law requires.
To report a concern, use the in-platform Report a concern flow. For more on how we handle data and guardian consent, see our Privacy Policy.
