Engineering, Architecture and Built Environment

ENGINEERINGINTERMEDIATE

This pathway is for students who have chosen engineering, architecture or the built environment and now need to pick a discipline and a route.

The critical technical detail at this stage is accreditation. In both countries, becoming a licensed professional depends on having studied on a recognised programme. A degree from an unrecognised provider can leave you unable to register, whatever the certificate says.

You will also produce a proper design brief: constraints, sketches, a calculation, a test and an honest account of what changed.

Learning Outcomes

  • Choose an engineering or built environment discipline and explain what it involves day to day.
  • Explain why programme accreditation matters for professional licensing, and how to check it.
  • Compare a degree route with a technologist, technician or HND route on time, cost and ceiling.
  • Produce a design brief with constraints, a calculation, a test and a revision.
  • Compare two programmes on entry requirements, placements and facilities.
