Technology, Computing and Digital Product

TECHNOLOGYINTERMEDIATE

This pathway is for students who can already build small things and now need to choose a direction and a route.

The four lanes, building software, running systems, securing them and analysing data, need different preparation and pay attention to different evidence. Choosing one does not lock you in, but drifting between all four for two years leaves you with nothing to show.

On routes, this field is unusual: certifications and portfolios genuinely count alongside qualifications. That does not mean qualifications are pointless, and it does not mean every paid course is worth the money.

Learning Outcomes

  • Choose a lane within technology and explain what evidence that lane expects.
  • Compare degree, HND or diploma, and certification routes on time, cost and what each opens.
  • Use version control and write documentation someone else could follow.
  • Build one project with a real user and improve it based on their feedback.
  • Judge whether a paid course or bootcamp is worth it, and spot the ones that are not.
