Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship
This pathway is for students who have decided on business and now need to choose a specialism and a route. Accounting and finance, sales and marketing, human resources, operations and supply chain, and entrepreneurship all need different preparation.
The route matters as much as the subject. In Ghana you can reach professional accountancy through a university degree, through an HND at a technical university, or through professional examinations while working. In Canada the professional accounting route runs through a degree with specific prerequisite courses.
You will also learn to read money properly, because the difference between profit and cash is where most small businesses die.
Learning Outcomes
- Choose a business specialism and explain what a person in that role is measured on.
- Compare degree, HND, college diploma and professional-examination routes on time, cost and what they qualify you for.
- Explain the difference between profit and cash flow using your own figures.
- Interview five potential customers about a real problem and change your idea based on what they said.
- Compare two programmes on entry requirements, placements or co-op, and graduate destinations.
