About this opportunity
The Sida-supported TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences funds research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics by individual scientists in the 66 science- and technology-lagging countries identified by TWAS; Ghana is on the list. Grants run 24 months and pay for equipment, consumables and specialised literature, but not salaries, travel, field costs, laptops, tablets, drones or lab animals. Maximum USD 30,000 per the programme page (USD 20,000 per the 2025 guidelines).
Applicants must be nationals of developing countries who hold a PhD, are early in their careers, are 45 or under, and hold a position at a university or research institution in an S&T-lagging country. They may not hold an active TWAS or OWSD grant. Women and LDC scientists are especially encouraged. The last call closed 3 April 2025; the official page states no call will open in 2026.
