About this opportunity

Through the Embassy of Japan in Ghana, MEXT recruits Ghanaian citizens seeking admission to a master's or doctoral course at a Japanese graduate school. Scholars start as research (non-degree) students for 18 months or two years (including six months of Japanese language study) and may extend by entering a regular degree course.

FY2027 conditions: Ghanaian citizenship; born on or after 2 April 1992; bachelor's-equivalent background (16 years of schooling) for master's-level study, or a master's/research experience for doctoral level; willingness to learn Japanese; no health conditions hindering study. Embassy screening includes written exams in Japanese and English plus an interview. Benefits (FY2027 guidelines): JPY 143,000-145,000 per month plus a regional supplement, economy air tickets, and waiver of entrance-exam, matriculation and tuition fees.
