Candidates must attach 'certification of English language proficiency starting from level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (including Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL iBT, ISE Digital-Trinity College, ISE Paper - Trinity College, PTE (Pearson Test of English), Linguaskill, ESOL, TOIEC (listening, reading, speaking, writing)'. A university certificate stating that English was the language of instruction on your degree may be accepted as proof of C1. Each student's programme also includes the study of Italian language and culture, and the first scholarship payment requires proof of attendance at a classroom or self-study Italian course before departure.

Invest Your Talent in Italy (IYT) is the Italian government's flagship scholarship for attracting international graduate students, run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the ICE Agency and Uni-Italia. Ghana has been one of its eligible countries for years. It funds Master's degrees and postgraduate courses at participating Italian universities in three areas — Engineering and Advanced Technologies, Architecture and Design, and Economics and Management. The courses are taught entirely in English, each student's programme includes the study of Italian language and culture, and a compulsory internship at an Italian company or trade association completes the path. In its 11th edition, for 2026-2027, 1,633 people applied, 980 were admitted and 209 scholarships were awarded.
The scholarship is EUR 10,800 for the academic year, paid quarterly into an Italian bank account in the student's own name. In the 11th edition the schedule was EUR 4,800 for October to December, then EUR 3,000 for January to March and EUR 3,000 for April to June, each release conditional on proof of enrolment, attendance and, from the second quarter, exams taken. Scholarship winners are also exempt from enrolment fees and university contributions, except for the regional tax for the Right to Education, stamp duty, accident and civil liability insurance costs and health insurance. Two exclusions matter: 'The scholarship does not cover travel expenses and does not include accommodation', and recipients must arrange their own health insurance in Italy.
To be eligible you must be a citizen of and living in one of the eligible countries, which include Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia and Tunisia in Africa; hold a qualification valid for enrolment on a Master's or postgraduate course at your chosen Italian institution (undergraduates cannot apply); and not already be studying at, or hold a qualification from, an Italian university. You must first submit a pre-admission application to an IYT course through the university's own procedure, then apply through the IYT platform — the scholarship depends on being admitted. You may apply for only one course. A certification of English proficiency from CEFR level B2 upwards is required, and a video application may be filmed in English or Italian, with Italian viewed positively in the evaluation.

'The winner of an IYT scholarship will receive an annual scholarship of EUR 10,800 (ten thousand eight hundred/00)', paid quarterly into an Italian bank account held in the student's name — in the 11th edition, EUR 4,800 for October-December, EUR 3,000 for January-March and EUR 3,000 for April-June, each release conditional on proof of enrolment, attendance and exams taken. Winners are exempt from enrolment fees and university contributions 'except for the following amounts: regional tax for the Right to Education; stamp duty; any costs relating to accident and/or civil liability insurance; health insurance.' Explicitly excluded: 'The scholarship does not cover travel expenses and does not include accommodation', and 'The scholarship recipient must independently arrange for health insurance to cover any expenses for illness and accidents in Italy.'

The call names a certification of English language proficiency from CEFR level B2 upwards and a video application, which 'may be filmed in English or Italian. The choice of Italian will be considered positively during the evaluation.' Documents must be in English, French or Spanish; if written in another language they must be translated by an official translator and both the original and the translation submitted. Names and surnames on the online form must match the passport exactly, using the machine-readable string at the bottom of the passport as the reference.
