  • Good health (successful candidates submit a Medical History and Examination Report)
  • Not eligible: recent undergraduate graduates; university teachers or academic researchers with no management responsibilities
  • Not eligible: one academic year or more of U.S. graduate school in the seven years before August 2026, or U.S. in-country experience of more than six months in the five years before August 2026
  • Preference for applicants with limited or no U.S. experience and no previous Fulbright scholar grant

About this opportunity

The Humphrey Fellowship, a Fulbright exchange program, places mid-career professionals with leadership records and a public-service commitment at U.S. host universities for about ten months of non-degree graduate study, professional development and a professional affiliation of at least six weeks. Fellows cannot choose their university or switch to degree status.

Mission Ghana encourages applications in Communications and Journalism; Law and Governance; Natural Resources Policy; Public and Economic Policy; Public Health Policy and Management; and Technology Policy and Management. Applicants must be Ghanaian citizens living in Ghana with a bachelor's degree, five years of full-time professional experience, good health and adequate English (finalists take TOEFL). Covers travel, tuition and fees, insurance, a monthly allowance, books and professional activities; no dependant support.

Online IIE application. 'Two recommendation letters are required for each nominee. One of the letters should be from the nominee's current employer.' Course listings, grades and proof of degree conferral for each higher-education degree. Selected candidates submit an Objectives and Program Plan; finalists take the TOEFL; successful candidates submit a medical report.
