  • Students currently receiving another French government scholarship are not eligible
  • Only programmes conferring a nationally accredited degree qualify; apprenticeship-contract programmes and French programmes located abroad are excluded
  • PhD: joint supervision (cotutelle) or dual degree with a partner institution abroad; 36-month awards reserved for first-year PhD students

About this opportunity

The France Excellence Eiffel programme helps French higher-education institutions attract the best foreign students to Master's, engineering and joint-supervision PhD programmes in seven fields: biology and health; ecological transition; mathematics and digital; engineering sciences; history, French language and civilisation; law and political science; economics and management.

Only French institutions may submit applications, so candidates must first apply to an institution and ask to be nominated. Reserved for foreign nationals (dual French nationals ineligible); students already in France are ineligible. Age limits: up to 29 (Master's) and 35 (PhD). Scholars receive EUR 1,200 per month (Master's) or EUR 2,100 (PhD) plus travel, health insurance, housing support and cultural activities; tuition is not covered. The 2026 session closed 8 January 2026; the 2027 call opens late September.
