About this opportunity

The AfOx Visiting Fellowship brings African researchers to the University of Oxford to work on a project of their choice with an Oxford collaborator. Fellows are affiliated with Oxford for 12 months: 10 months of virtual engagement (library access, research-leadership support), then a two-month residency in Trinity term (May-June). AfOx provides accommodation, a return economy flight, airport transfers, visa fee and a maintenance allowance of up to GBP 250 per week.

Applicants must be African nationals (Ghana eligible) with a PhD, of postdoctoral or equivalent status, holding an appointment at an African academic or research institution; existing Oxford affiliates are disqualified. Candidates must first secure an Oxford collaborator, agree a joint project and obtain their signed letter of support. The 2026 general round is closed; the next general call opens in 2027.
